Notes
- In the Essex Marriage Records there are: George Green m. Martha Rowley in
Chelmsford (1768) = too early; George Green m. Elizabeth Ross in Chelmsford
(1794).
- In the 1841 Census, there are the following Greens in Great Tey: Joseph
(40) with wife Mary and their children Emma (15), Sarah (12), Esther (10),
William (7), Hannah (6), George (4). Living at "Clamps". John (45)
and George (25), agricultural labourers. George's wife Amelia (20).
- In the 1881 Census, there are still Greens living in Great Tey at Gulls
Farm: George (b.1838) and wife Ann (b. 1833) with children Adah (1859),
Laura (1862), Margaret (1867) and William (1871) all born in Great Tey.
George could be the son of Joseph also found in the 1841 Census. There is
also a very posh miller & farmer, James M. Green, in Aldham but he was
born in Colchester.
