Bob has kindly supplied the following information: "James Chapman (1817-76) died on the 27th Oct 1876 at Guys Hospital. He died as a result of falling into a boat at Horsleydown Stairs in Southwark (probably where he plied his boat from) . He broke his left leg witha compound fracture and had to have it amputated. He never recovered." |
