13 May 1872 Daughter Martha Married Samuel Furr at St Olave, Southwark. She was 25, no occupation, living at 76 Tooley Street (same as Sam). Father given as James Chapman, a lighterman. He was also a witness (along with Virginia Clark Hipkins) Marriage Certificate
27 Oct 1876 Died in St Olave Southwark aged 58. He was a lighterman.

Bob has kindly supplied the following information: "James Chapman (1817-76) died on the 27th Oct 1876 at Guys Hospital. He died as a result of falling into a boat at Horsleydown Stairs in Southwark (probably where he plied his boat from) . He broke his left leg witha compound fracture and had to have it amputated. He never recovered."
